Biography

Solution Thirteen’s music parallels the members themselves. Each member brings their unique experiences and influences, but they all share a common goal, to make dynamic metal music that moves the listener. This goal is what drives the level of commitment to the band’s sound. Drummer Brian Linn established the foundation for the band with his percussive bombardment of the songs. Bass player Chase Givan provides a consistent building block on which the rest of the instruments feed off. Guitarists Jon Seelen and Shawn Linn deliver driving riffs and a clever compliment to each other when trading off rhythm and lead duties; a refreshing change from the status-quo two rhythm guitar setup. Kevin Lehtola rounds out the line-up with his blend of clean melodies, lyrical depth, and brutal screams. The chemistry between the band is apparent with their live shows. Crowd interaction, high energy, and stage presence provide for a memorable performance. Solution Thirteen’s music revolves around the well-know, and enjoyed, building blocks of metal music: double-bass drum, chunky guitars, and screams. The band takes these elements and embellishes upon them, without sounding self-indulgent. It is not uncommon to have a “battle” of sorts between the metal components and the recognizable lyrics and melodies that people connect to. This is what allows Solution Thirteen to have appeal to anyone, from the ultimate metal-head to the top-40 enthusiast.
